“I lived 10 kilometres from Vilnius during Second World War. We’ve had this AK network group. Mr Kardzierz, highly patriotic, rich man lived close by in a mansion. I was only 17 years old in 1944. We’ve been involved as a group in quite few dangerous actions. A lot of young people from Vilnius were wandering in the area. We have always helped them to get back home safely. Otherwise they could find themselves in a trap. We have always made sure to drop them off to where they belong.”
