“My dad was an officer, he was murdered in Katyń. My mum was secretly teaching young people in Vilnius. As a scout I’ve quite few opportunities to prove myself. I was checking the addresses. It was needed for AK to check if certain people live at the certain address. So I would basically go and double check few addresses on daily basis. I was delivering this bag of potatoes three, four times in a row to the same address. One day I’ve emptied the bag and I could see the newspaper at the bottom of it. I was basically delivering the underground newspaper in this undercover way. It was called “Niepodległość” – Independence.”
