“After general de Gaulle’s speech in 1940 we’ve stood up and wanted to fight. Our Polish parents knew what was going on in Warsaw. Their patriotism have influenced us a lot. I believe it isn’t any other like that in the whole world. Only Poles are this patriotic. We have joined the resistance movement. We’ve had a very tough and challenging tasks. We were involved in sabotages. When allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy we were at the back putting down bridges, train tracks. I clearly remember these tough tasks, but we stood up and done them with head held high.”
